I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this new world we’ve been living in. In early March, when all of this started happening, I had no idea we would be where we are now. I think what really got me was when the NBA canceled scheduled games. That’s when I knew this was serious.
Now mind you, I’m already a germaphobic introverted homebody with OCD. So being at the house and using excessive amounts of hand sanitizer is the norm for me. But it hits different when I don’t have a choice.
Do you know how many people walked passed me in Food Lion when I stopped to wipe down my buggy? People in public bathrooms have even complimented my handwashing skills. Now everyone is wiping their carts and finally washing their hands properly. Oh, and wiping themselves since everyone suddenly needs tissue.
On a serious note, this coronavirus is no joke. Everyone has been affected by this in one way or another. It’s a terrible and unfortunate situation but the only thing that can be done is to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Since I’ve been in quarantine, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting. I’ve been journaling and trying new plant-based and smoothie recipes. I even came up with a schedule for movies and tv shows.
On Mondays, I watch a movie that I haven’t seen - New Movie Mondays. Crime shows for True Crime Tuesdays. Followed by educational content on Documentary Wednesdays. I watch something that I used to watch and love on Throwback Thursdays. On Freebie Fridays, I catch up on things that I watched throughout the week or whatever I’m in the mood to watch. The same goes for the weekend but I haven’t come up with a cute name for it.
Since I’m big on practicing gratitude and making lists, here are the highlights of my time at home:
-We finally got the fourth season of Insecure!
-Little Fires Everywhere was SO good, like This Is Us good.
-I’m grateful to still have a source of income.
-I also really enjoy working from home.
-I’ve been drinking tons of water. It’s even better with cucumber and honeydew melon.
-Being in the house the majority of the time is the perfect opportunity for even more deep condition treatments and protective styles.
I’m glad I started 2020 with a bang. I really had a lot of fun in January and February. Like most people, I said this was going to be MY year. It’s already felt like a year for all of us. I hope you’re taking good care of yourself and taking the time to do what you love. I know this is difficult but we will find a way to get through it! Until then, be safe and count your blessings!
