I Appreciate You, Strong Black Lead!

Getting on Twitter and seeing Strong Black Lead post about my favorite shows being added to Netflix was the best news I’ve received since we’ve been in quarantine. It’s been a minute but it took me a while to post this because I’ve been so busy watching. I used to plan my schedule around these shows and count down the days to watch new episodes. We didn’t have YouTube or any apps to catch up. If you didn’t record it on a VCR, you missed out.

Moesha, The Game, Sister Sister, Girlfriends, The Parkers, Half and Half, and One on One, will all be on Netflix between now and October 15. This is the perfect list of shows to watch during the quarantine. Even if we weren’t going through this right now, the rest of my summer plans would have been canceled.

One thing that this list has reminded me of, is my love for TV theme songs! Mo to the, E to the Moesha! You can’t bounce to any of the beginning of TV shows anymore. And remember when Tia and Tamera switched it up with the remix? If I could have found it on one of those websites I used to download music from, I would have burned all of those songs to a CD.

It really takes me back. Getting excited to watch your favorite sitcom, yelling to your family members who were in the kitchen or the bathroom to hurry up when the commercial was over, getting frustrated when you accidentally recorded something over something else.

I’m a TV person so I’m always obsessed with some show. Right now I’m in love with Insecure, This Is Us, and whatever I’m into at the moment Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Even though there’s always going to be something new, there’s nothing like the nostalgic feeling you get watching a show that you loved as a kid.

These shows bring back so many good memories. Just like I looked forward to watching them all, I now look forward to seeing Strong Black Lead’s announcements. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!

And yes, Netflix. I’m still watching.
