The Writing Inspiration I Needed

I recently attended one of the most valuable events I've ever attended. It all started with an email from The Urban Reader Bookstore about an event at the South Park Regional Library. The library hosts a Black Owned Business Series, and when I read "Local Author Edition," I immediately made plans to go. I knew it would be a great event, but I had no idea it would be as life-changing as it was.

When I arrived, I saw all of the chairs for the panel and anticipated learning more about each author. The hosts asked each panelist a series of questions. I was completely immersed in their stories and words of wisdom. In the end, I was in awe of all that I learned. I wrote down as many gems as I could in my notes.

After the panel, attendees had the opportunity to meet and greet the authors. I'm genuinely grateful for my conversations with them, and I purchased five new books. It felt great to support the authors, and I look forward to reading more of their work.

Here's a list of all the authors so you can follow and support them: Andrea “The Chocolate Butterfly” Williams, Blake Karrington, Faith Knight, Jeanne Muhammed, KP Carter, Malika Stevely, Michelle Harbin, Rhonda Copeland Lyle, and Tiffany Grantham.

I also met an Etiquette Consultant, Clinetta Allen, who graduated from the American School of Protocol!

If you still need to check out events and programs at your local library please do. I'm amazed at all of the library’s resources. This was an excellent way to kick off Black History Month and much-needed motivation to return to my writing projects!
